American Dream Cafe © 2016 John Croizat & Mette Halling It’s six o’clock in the morning, I’m doing what I usually do I take orders, and pour coffee, and listen to what's new Two eggs easy, hash browns, Bill's got a broken heart - again Buckwheat pancakes, bacon side, Marty's truck won't start I was just out of school, not sure what I would do Took a job waiting tables, just for a week or two. Here I am at forty three; I guess I'm going to stay It’s just another busy morning at the American Dream Cafe Now up there on that TV screen, they put on quite a show But the folks who really matter are the people that you know You might think this is nowhere; I don't see it that way There's a lot of real good people at the American Dream Cafe But if I told you it was all great, that would be a lie The rich keep getting richer, the rest of us get by The plant closed down last year, a lot of folks moved on If it wasn't for that Interstate, this cafe would be gone The papers are always full of bad news; it’s hard to know what's true Seems so far away until it happens to you Jobs gone to China, global warming’s here to stay It's just another busy morning at the American Dream Cafe John and Linda are getting married, somewhere out of town The price of corn and soybeans goes up and down Bobbie bought a backhoe, and she’s got a baby on the way It's just another busy morning, at the American Dream Cafe It's just another busy morning, at the American Dream Cafe

I'm A Salmon In The River (c) 2017 John Croizat I'm a salmon in the river swimming upstream I'm a salmon in the river, no one's gonna catch me A thousand miles I'll travel, to find love in the gravel I'm a salmon in the river, no one's gonna catch me Snow falls on the mountain in the winter Melts into a river in the spring Wild and running free, that river was meant for me I'm a salmon in the river, no one's gonna catch me I never knew my mother or my father I'll never see my children at all But that's my destiny and what will be will be I'm a salmon in the river, no one's gonna catch me I swimming to the head waters of my birth No place more sacred on this earth I know my destiny, my part in pro-creation I'm a salmon in the river, no one's gonna catch me I'm a salmon in the river swimming upstream I'm a salmon in the river, no one's gonna catch me A thousand miles I'll travel, to find love in the gravel I'm a salmon in the river, no one's gonna catch me

All About Love © 2019 John Croizat The eagle kills to feed its young One life ends, another’s begun This is how the song is sung It’s all about love Give us this day our daily bread You are quick or you are dead Remember what Darwin said It’s all about love All about love, all about love Earth below, and sky above It’s all about love I must put my family first Take the best and leave the worst I will be both blessed and cursed It’s all about love All is fair in love and war I know what I’m fighting for I love your children, but I love mine more It’s all about love All about love, all about love Earth below, and sky above It’s all about love Bridge Love is cruel, Love is blind Love is more than this Love is tender, Love is kind Love is more than this Love is everything there is. Everything there is Love knows no right or wrong Love just rolls on and on Love is the only song It’s all about love All about love, all about love Earth below, and sky above It’s all about love All about love

California Is A Dream © 2019 John Croizat Wintertime In California, the hills are emerald green Springtime in California, the most beautiful I’ve ever seen Summertime in California, the hills are dry and brown Cold fog rolls in off the ocean, California is upside down Everybody knows California is a one of a kind Everybody loves California, land of milk and honey, and wine California, California -- California is a dream California’s full of promise, glitter and gold California’s where the future’s made; and where it’s bought and sold California is full of castles, with kings and queens, and quacks Media stars and gurus, entrepreneurs and hacks Come to California, you’ll make millions in a year or two Come to California, find out what is true. California, California -- California is a dream California, California -- California is a dream Everybody’s coming to California, they gotta give it a try Everybody’s coming to California, I know why California, California -- California is a dream California, California -- California is a dream - California is a dream

Well Well Well (c) 2017 John Croizat Well, well, well -- I've been down in a well Down in the dark in my own perfect hell I won't say who, I don't know why Just let it go and let it die Well, well, well -- I've been down in a well Nobody knows how far I fell I fought with demons, I fought and won I rise up to dance with the sun Fly like an eagle, on wings swift and strong Fly like an eagle, above right and wrong Ride the wind, let it carry me Over the clouds, far as I can see Well, well, well -- I wish you all well Where I am headed I cannot tell I've come through darkness, I've come through night I've rise up into the light Fly like an eagle, above right and wrong High in the sky, where I belong Ride the wind, let it carry me Over the clouds, far as I can see Fly like an eagle, above right and wrong Cry all my sorrow into a song Put my forgiveness into a prayer Let the sound of my footsteps --- melt into the air

I Took Hold Of Your Hand © 2020 John Croizat It was a surprise Not something I’d planned The first time I reached out And took hold of your hand A long time I’d known you We were old friends We were walking together I took hold of your hand And, it felt a bit strange Like I was crossing a line I took hold of your hand And held it in mine We had loved others We’d seen those loves end Our hearts had been broken We needed to mend It was too soon To start something new But I was so happy Being with you I took hold of your hand And it was so right Like stepping out of the darkness Into the light I had been lost I would never love again Then I reached out And took hold of your hand I reached out I took hold of your hand

It’s So Good To Be Home © 2019 John Croizat It’s so good to be home Darling, it’s so good to see you It’s been a long day; I’m tired, and a bit worn It’s so good to be home Come here honey, and kiss me, How’s your day been, did you miss me Tell me something funny, our kids did Mmm, something sure smells good Is that dinner already cooking I swear, I am the luckiest man ever born It’s so good to be home And hold you in my arms Where I want to be, you close to me It’s so good to be home Up before the dawn It’s dark when I get home You know I couldn’t do it without you When was the first time I told you How much I love you We’ve sure come some distance since then, my friend It’s so good to be home And hold you in my arms Where I want to be, you close to me It’s so good to be home It’s so good to be home

Except For That One Thing (c) 2018 John Croizat I love the way you move like you haven't got a care I love your sexy voice, your choice of evening wear I love your smirky laugh, your sly little grin I love everything about you babe, except for that one thing They say opposites attract, I do believe that's true There is a whole lot of me that is opposite in you But I find you irresistible, almost a perfect dream I love everything about you babe, except for that one thing I could fall in love with you, except for that one thing, You would be my queen, except for that one thing, I would want to say I do, except for that one thing, I love everything about you babe, except for that one thing Some things change and some thing don't Some things will and some things won't I been living like a yoyo, going up and down the string I love everything about you baby, except for that one thing We've talked about it, yes; we fought about it too Guess it's time to pack my bag, roll down the road a few I wish that could love you, I really, really do But that one thing babe, is like a burr in my shoe I could fall in love with you, except for that one thing, You would be my queen, except for that one thing, I would want to say I do, except for that one thing, I love everything about you babe, except for that one thing I could fall in love with you, except for that one thing, You would be my queen, except for that one thing, I would want to say I do, except for that one thing, I love everything about you babe, except for that one thing I love everything about you babe, except for that one thing

about

"Wonderful, thoughtful songs woven together with a great band. Well written, well produced. This is a great CD!" -- Steve DeLap, KRCB-FM

"A compelling collection of feel good, toe tapping Americana . . . with detailed, storytelling lyrics amply sprinkled with humor, alongside more serious observations on life and love. A skilled fiddler and guitarist, Zat's voice feels at once familiar and friendly. Recommended listening." -- Brett Perkins, Idyllwild Songwriters Festival; former director, National Academy of Songwriters
